AF100 low bitrates

Hey.

I've used the AF100 for some weeks now, and the bitrate has remained pretty steady at 20 mbps or some, and the footage lookes really great.

However, I recently shot a music video (first serious project with the AF100) After importing the stuff to FCP I noticed the quality were a bit poorer, and when I checked the bitrate had dropped to around 2.6 mbps.

I havent changed any recording settings: It has allways been PH 1080/60i. I've played a little around with other settings, but cant remember to have done anything that would change the bitrate. I changed the operation type from "video" to "film cam" but I dont believe that has anything to do with it.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Im thinking its something to do with your project settings in FCP.

TO bring in AVCHD you would be using log and transfer correct? So then theres some settings in log and transfer that can change this. Explain the process there that youre using and someone can sort this out easily for you.

Hmm, I dont use that import method. I simply use a program called "Clip Wrapper" who converts the .mts files to ProRes. After they are done I just pull them into the project in final cut pro.

I imported the footage again, using the Prores HQ codec. It DID in fact get higher bitrates. That being said, when I compared the footage side by side (2mbps) to (14mbps), I didnt see any differences. I got a good screen in my new iMac 27", and pulled the footage and inspected every detail.

Does bitrates matter that much after all?
