Hey guys I was just wondering, is there much different between the olympus 45mm and the voigtlander 25mm in terms of field of view and quality etc? As I own the voigtlander, and have enough now to either buy the olympus 12mm OR the olympus 45mm and the slr magic 12mm. (Though from my research the oly 12mm looks better for my needs - less flare).
But I was just wondering if having the voigt 25 and the oly 45 would it see much difference and changing about? Does the oly give much of that telephoto squeeze? (as i guess it's regarded as a mid tele?)
Well, of course there's a huge difference in field of view. One's a 45, and the other's a 25. There's as much difference between the 12 and the 25, as there is between the 25 and a 45.
Ok cool thanks Barry, I'm just not that use to telephoto lenses. So when would be a good time in your opinion (i appreciate it is always creative preference) to whip out the 45mm over the 25? I have a fight scene in my upcoming feature, would the 45mm's telephoto give me enough of that compression of the depth of field where I could have actors punch just to the side? (like in the fight club)
Hmm just received my olympus 45mm and first time it was focusing just fine, then I switched off the camera, switched it back on a little later and now it won't focus! Any one have any ideas? (I've changed the lens check to both on and off but still nothing :S
Your lens is probably fine. For some reason you have to put the Oly in auto focus and then back to manual focus for it to work properly. As far as the 25 and 45 lenses, to get a head and shoulder shot with a 25 you have to get uncomfortably close to your subject. With the Oly 45 you can back up to about 6 feet and get a nice head and shoulders shot.
