AF100 - Lens/mount question

Hey all,

I am wondering if there is a section on this site dedicated to explaining a specific lens and the proper name of the adapter mount it needs to work with the AF100??

If there isn't, or if the list is missing any lenses I will mention below, could you guys help me out with which adapter it needs?

For example: The Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1 lens needs a "Leica M to M43" adapter.

Which adapter mounts do the following lenses need to work with AF100?:

Samyang 14mm f/2.8 lens
Nikon 50mm f/1.2 AI-S lens
Nikon 85mm f/1.4 AI-S lens
Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 lens
Samyang 85mm f/1.4 aspherical lens
Nikon Tamron 300mm f/2.8 lens

Thank you!

Will

Nikon mount lenses need Nikon to m43
Canon FD mounts need FD to m43
Olympus OM mounts need OM to m43
Snozzberry mounts need Snozzberry to m43
Etc

Thank you for your reply.

On ebay for example, the lenses don't show "OM" or "FD", they just show "Samyang 14mm f/2.8 lens", or "Nikon 50mm f/1.2 AI-S". (most anyway)

I realize Nikon lenses need a Nikon adapter.. but aren't there a few different types? Nikon F, Nikon G..

I appreciate your help, however it's not exactly the answer I was looking for.

Can someone please link me to a page for each of those lenses I listed that has the appropriate mount? or at least as many as you feel up to find.. lol

I'd love to get my hands on a Snozzberry lens...

Thanks!

Will

Here is my suggestion to you FWIW.

Dont mix your lenses up. Why have a hodge podge of lenses all requiring different adpaters?

Go with a single brand eg Nikkor (all manual))...and get one quality adapter (eg Adaptimax) Nikkor to M43.

Choose your lenses ( focal length) carefully for your needs and purposes.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion.

Money is an issue for me unfortunately, if I go with a couple different lenses and different adapters - I can save a few hundred bucks and still have a pretty decent set of fast primes. I wish I had the funds to buy a Zeiss set haha
I currently own a Voitlander 25mm f/0.95 (that was a MUST, regardless of budget) and a Lumix 14-140mm which shipped with the AF100.

I'd like to get my hands on a 14mm, a fast 50mm and a fast 85mm and eventually save up to get the Tamron 300mm.

I think I'll end up buying the Voitlanger 50mm f/1.1 because I already own the 25mm.

I also know now that the Tamron 300mm requires a Nikon F to M43 adapter, so I just need to confirm which adapter the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 and the Samyang 85mm f/1.4 need??

Decent adapters cost more than many decent lenses (2nd hand Ebay... eg Nikkors)... so not sure on your logic here.

I'm really trying to not sound rude or anything, but I honestly don't know which adapters I need for the lenses I've mentioned and would like to know :)

I appreciate your effort in trying to help me out, but I'm stubborn I guess - I've made up my mind about which lenses I'll be buying, 1 one them I'll be buying off a friend for cheap.

I've googled this and can't seem to find the answer exactly. If you can help me out, please do..

With Samyang it depends on which mount you order the lens - I would definitely recommend the Nikon mount for as many lenses as possible.

- Nikon have been using the same mount for decades. You might need to know if the lens has manual aperture though (which is necessary as the AF100 doesn't have the electronics to change aperture - although there are some workarounds)
- Zeiss and Samyang are 3rd party manufacturers and make lenses with different types of mount. The mount type will be specified by the seller.

Many lenses manufacturers delivered with a variety of mounts on the back of them so they would mount to various cameras.

eg. A Tamron or a Tokina lens could have a Nikkor, Canon , Pentax, Leica camera mount.....

As Gary said...you need to ask or check what any lens you consider purchasing has as a lens mount. It could be any of the above or others.

I still advise working with one lens mount and one (quality) adapter. Its practical and cost efficient

If the mount is not specified by the seller of the lens, you need to contact the seller and ask which mount the lens he is selling has on that lens.
