AF100 HDMI to component monitor?

My Ikan monitor is HD but not HDSDI capable. My DP is suggesting we get an HDMI break out cable solution.

Ikan, upon contacting them claimed this: "Actual Component breaks out to Red, Green, and Blue. HDMi is always a signal cable UNLESS you have a HDMI to Component converter."

Anyone have any knowledge or experience in this department?
 
HDMI = digital. Component = analog. There is no simple cable solution, you'll need an HDMI->component converter, such as sold by BlackMagic or AJA. Costs about $400-$500.
