af100 firmware update procedure

Forgive me if this is somewhere in the forum but i cant find this info. Trying to update my af100 firmware. I put the firmware folder called Private on the sd card at the top of the folder structure, place the patch in there also then eject it and insert into camera. It gives me a check card message. I am using OSX to do the update. Have also tried putting the folder named vsi5257j on the card also, no joy. Any tips from anyone would be very much appreciated.
 
Try this. Download a fresh version of the firmware, or unzip your current firmware file. Go to this website, follow the instructions and try and update again through the regular update procedure. The problem is that there are hidden files embedded in the card by OSX, these hidden files cause problems. The patch essentially erases these problematic files. Good luck.

Will give that a try. Does the rest of what I am doing sound like correct procedure ? I have never done a firmware update on a Panasonic before only my 5d mk2
 
Tried that Marc, no joy. I may be missing something simpler than that. What exactly is the regular update procedure ?
 
I have tried this 10 times, 10 different ways, and I keep getting a "NOT FINISH" prompt.. Not being a computer person, I can't figure this out...
 
Yeah, thanks, that's exactly what I have been doing. For some reason the patch.app won't work though.. And I don't have a PC available.

This may sound a little nuts, but I took a flash card to a best buy or kinkos, and got it there one time on location.. Worked ok for me.. Not the best solution, but good in a pinch!!

Funny, that's just what I thought I'd do this morning, only take my card reader and camera and do it all there... I know Barry disparages Macs, but I hate PCs equally...
 
Before doing that I tried downloading Kika (generally I don't like to download unknown apps) and it worked perfectly... That Panasonic patch is apparently like the Nicotine Patch, it works for some, not for others...
 
don't know if anyone can help me with this... i am tearing my hair out. i have downloaded the patch and formatted a card on the agaf101... and NONE of my PCs recognise that the card is formatted?!? i have tried it on 3 computers and they all say that the card needs formatting.

any idea what is going on?
