hey man great footage. that night time aerial footage was pretty sweet too. what kind of stabilizer did you use for that shot? how much did they charge you for that helicopter ride?

KS-8 Stabilizer was used

KS-8 Stabilizer was used

Hey FilmBoy 77

I used the KS-8 Gyro on the bottom of my af100, which was on the redrock micro v2 shoulder rig, then on the daytime stuff, I skipped the rig, and put the stabilizer right under my af100 handheld, with a bungee cord thru the handle and clipped to the top of the door. The only reccomendation I have for you is to use industrial interlock velcro from 3m on the top of the stabilizer because it only has 1 screw (1/4 20) and will spin on you. the helicopter was an R44 with the doors off
 good luck

30 min helicopter ride was $500

get a monitor SDI for the pilot to always keep the horizon in your shot.
shoulder mount was more stable than handheld with stabiizer.
Philip bloom just uses pillows under his 5D with an image stabilizing lens, to not transfer vibration to the camera. Thats the biggest problem, the more contact you have with the camera, the more vibration. And whatever width you think you want for your shot, you want to be 2x as wide on the lens. Move the chopper, not the zoom.
