What's the cheapest and best option for me to record 4-2-2 from my AF100?
I'm shooting a documentary on a C300 and considering second camera using my AF100...
Thanks for suggestions.

Thanks Matt. Maybe you can give me some advice: my DP is bringing his c300 for 1st camera. I'm considering using my AF100 with a Ninja, for 2nd camera. Or, using a 5D with a Ninja. My thought is that the 5D would match better, due to the larger sensor and being a Canon.... any opinions for that?
The documentary is not for broadcast, but I'm concerned about matching well.

I can only suggest you try it. And a lot will depend on what type of shot each camera is used for - wide (with lot of fine detail), or close up of faces etc.

The C300 has a chip that produces full 1920x1080 - neither the 5D nor the AF100 will do anything like that, charts show the AF100 to max out at about 650lpph, and I suspect the 5D is similar.

In isolation it doesn't matter too much - that sort of resolution is close to 720p standard, and that was state of the art for quite a while.

But intercut with a full 1080 res camera, and if for a 1080 end result it really shows up. I've seen an AF100 intercut with an EX1 and in isolation the AF100 stuff looked pretty good - but when intercut, well, it didn't. It looked soft in comparison. Partly it was due to the AF100 largely being used for the more w/a shot, the EX1 for close ups, which exacerbated the differences. (Loss of fine detail was more noticeable on the w/a shots.)

I think the Shuttle II is the go - I'm going to grab one for my AF100 & GH4 - 4:2:2 out of either, sure the AF100 is only 8 bit while the GH4 is 10 bit but I'm not doing anything in 4k for now so I think this is a bargain

I use the Shuttle 2 with my AF100 & BMPC its really the most versatile and the SSDs are cheep and useful for other applications as well.

Would you do better using the GH4 in a C4K or UHD mode and then downsize to 1080 in post? This might look better than an internal recorder...
