AF100 Canon EOS Mount, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM

Hello,

I didn't find a lot of posts about this when I was looking, but wanted to report some success (see image).

Connected a Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L USM to the AF100 using the Adaptimax Canon EF to micro 4/3 Lens Adapter (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/751294-REG/Adaptimax_APACM4_3_Canon_EF_to_micro.html). I have a Genus rig and a stand-in Zacuto lens support while I'm waiting for the Genus support. Going to be running around with it all next week, but feels very sturdy. Couldn't take the Lumix 14-140 anymore, wasn't fast enough.

Likewise have been doing a lot of wildlife and river shooting using the EF 70-200 f2.8, preset to f8 using a very dumb but effective Fotodiox adaptor.

Just added the 1.4 extender with great results!

Damn, for the price of that adapter you could buy the RRmicro one. I'm sure you bought this one before the RRm. I now have the RRm and I really like it. Hopefully, we will see the birger come along as promised. Hopefully...I would still carry the 14-140. Sure, it's slow, but optically it's not a bad lens.

I'm certain I don't have to point out (although I will anyways) that no matter how good the 80-200 L glass is you are giving up the 14-80mm range which is a huge chunk of view.

The 14-140 despite all the naysayers is a remarkable optical achievement. If someone could make the same focal range with a constant (and non breathing) aperture you could bet on it costing in the mid 5 figures. I'm also guessing (not too much) that the upcoming constant aperture x series Panasonic lenses will deflate a lot of the RR and Birger-fantasy EF lens mount buzz.

I use the 14-140 all the time, despite having 20 or so other lenses to choose from, most of them Canon Ls (with which I've been very happy as well, despite the aperture limitations).

Here is my 70-200 2.8 IS L with the RR controller and a few other goodies, it works very well.

Olof,
Do you find the Zacuto as a MUST have with this rig? I have a Zacuto that i am considering selling once I buy my AF and thought the included viewing options were sufficient.

Little RavenPix, there is really not a lot of reason for the EVF the AF100 has a pretty good EVF, and my shoulder rig for the AF100 works well with the built in EVF.

I use the EVF a lot for other cameras to make them shoulder able . And it can be handy for studio work too. THese days I prefer the Alphatron as it is SDI as well as HDMI, HDMI cables have been problematic for me.
