AF100 - Broken Display

I rely very heavily on the various metres and levels that it's possible to have up on my AF100's display.

I just got my camera back from a repair place and none of the levels will display any more, despite the fact that in the display part of the menu, it says they're on.

I took the camera in for cleaning in the first place because strange stuff appeared in and was partially obstructing the viewfinder (not visable in the flip-out screen and not affecting the shots).

That stuff in the viewfinder only started appearing a couple of days after I did a highly unusual shoot with the AF100, where it was exposed to -20C for over an hour.

My questions:

a) Would it have been that very cold treatment that caused something to disintegrate/accumulate in the viewfinder? The guys in the shop said it looked like a white powder, whatever it was.

b) What are my options for fixing the display? The shop is happy to open the camera up again and investigate for no charge, but any tips on what might be going wrong? Something in the electronics obviously isn't working, but any helpful suggestions beyond that would be very welcome!

Thank you!

Check your display/mode chk button or switch (don't remember offhand which the AF100 has). That button (or switch) can enable or disable all overlays. I'll bet that's the issue you're having.

Genius!! I just pushed the button and everything is back to normal! You're a life saver, Barry. And you write beautifully. I wish you'd consider rewriting every technical manual/set of instructions ever put out into the world.
