AF100 Audio Slips in Long Consecutive Recording

I just shot a continuous interview that lasted 1hr. and 20min. I recorded the footage onto a Sandisk 16GB 30MB/s Extreme SDHC card in the camera's Slot #1.

When I ingested the material into Avid MC5, I noticed the footage was broken into three files, even though I did not stop recording at any point. The first two files maxed out at approx. 4GB each. The third file was under 4GB because the length of the remaining footage was shorter.

What I experienced: The first 4GB file was in sync, video and sound. No problems. But the second and third files were out of sync. The video was consistently ahead of the audio by 13 frames on both files. This sync problem was simple enough to correct, after some trial and error matching the interview's lips. But this caught me by surprise.

Anyone experience this?

I had a clip long enough to be broken into two clips. About 40mins. did not have any sync issues upon ingesting and transcoding in Final Cut Pro.

The SD cards can only record a clip that is under 4gb or about 25 mins. I found you have to record clips that are less than that if you are using Avid. FCP is not a problem as the log & transfer joins the clips with no sync issues. I suggest you use a program to join the spanned clips before you import them into Avid or shoot clips under 25 mins.
