I have a canon xl1 wide angle 3x zoom ( 3 to 10) will this make a good lens for the af100? What adapter would I need

Sorry it won't work with the AF100. That lens is only designed to cover a 1/3" sensor.

the b4 lens can be used with 2x extender.......and b4 adopter

The XL1 does not use a B4 mount.
