Yes, use a torch to heat the aluminum. Make sure you heat it evenly so it bends easily. If you put it in a vice grip, all you have to do heat and bend, heat and bend. Just try to get it to a shape that will fit nicely around your shoulder. After that I just duct taped some soft foam onto it, which you could probably figure out a way to make it look nicer.
