AF-100 with Red glass

We just tried some of the Red zoom glass on our AF-100 today and I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised. On the Red 1, I felt the Red glass was a little soft. On the AF, the glass, specifically the 18-85, looked beautiful. The image it produces is a lot like the old Angenieux 16mm "creamyness"... soft and organic. I'll post some of the footage after it gets approved by the client. Not that you'd really want to hang that much glass off your AF, but we all felt it was worth mentioning.

Looks like you need to get yourself a good size dovetail to balance out the camera if you are going to try and hang that heavy of a lens .
 
I'm strongly considering buying both of those lenses now. Can't beat the price. Did anyone ever figure out who's making them for Red?

I totally agree. This was a last minute project that had to be turned around in a day so the Red wasn't an option. On the plus side, the client (who is accustomed to Red) was completely satisfied with the footage. They saw no difference in the quality and are thrilled we can turn it out so quickly with the AF.
