Actually it is not the same sensor as the GH1.

Interesting, do you have any details?

Will it still be a large megapixel size? It would be much better to have a smaller megapixel size and larger pixels... maybe a pixel size similar to Alexa (2880x1620)?

I can't speak for everyone, but I couldn't care less about having a still image feature on this... not if we could get better video by using a lower megapixel sensor.

That's a relief. I take optimized for video to mean no aliasing or moire and better low-light performance / absence of FPN. Can't wait.

I agree this sounds like potential good news! But, don't count on it having no Moire or Aliasing. Given it's probably still a Bayer sensor, there will be some as I've never seen a company put a strong enough OLPF to cover it all, as it makes the image WAY TOO soft.

Even the Alexa still has moire and aliasing.

Definite change from this statement in April. Good news.
Yep, that statement was from April, but this is August. This is pretty much exactly what I expected would happen, and even though the GH13 has shown that the old sensor is capable of some amazing footage, I'm glad to see that we're getting something even newer/improved in the AF100.

Does anyone know if the new Panasonic AG-AF100 will be able to use lens other than the Panasonic Lumix G lenses?

The promotional image for the AF100 has the Hot Rod PL mount adaptor on it. I have that adaptor for the GH1 and you can definitely use it with PL-mount glass (I use Cooke Pancho/i glass, and it protrudes *way* back towards the sensor -- and fits fine).

Through the use of adapters, you can adapt practically any SLR lens ever made to it. And, you can also use B4-mount ENG lenses and PL-mount and c-mount cinema lenses.

How do you deal with electronically controlled aperture? I've not heard anything on this front yet, although I hear hope that Birger will create such a thing. Have you heard anything from them?!? :)

You are asking a question that I cannot yet answer. However, I am certain that someone will fill that gap in the market, and sooner than you may think.

All i want (not that anyone asked) is 6400 iso with as little noise (notice i didn't say zero noise as thats probably unrealistic) as posable.

If We had that then all of a sudden all of these otherwise great micro 4/3 lenses from Panasonic and Olympus that are currently too slow to use ( i shoot weddings) would become useful. The GH1 kit lens alone would serve 80% of what i do but with f/4-f5.6 its crippled at receptions.

so... i use my legacy 50mm f/1.7 Minolta and the 20mm 1.7 Panasonic lenses (which is insane how sharp that thing is) which gets me by but it's so run and gun i know i could get better footage if i could go from 14 to 140 in a blink like i can with the kit lens.

yep if the Af-100 (or gh2 for that mater) shoots at 6400 Panasonic is going to get a lot more money from me in lens sales than camera sales.

For most of my work i would actually prefer to shoot at f/4 to get deeper DOF as people don't seam to want to stand still on a dance floor.

Might i see a AF100 at the Panasonic booth at WEVA in Orlando next month?

I haven't heard as much about the GH2. I'm really interested in that little cam as well. Is it true that it will have a global shutter? I'm thinking this will be an exciting time for all of us...

Nope. Just a rumor posted about fifteen times. Definitely out of the price point for that market. I would eat my hat if that happened.

if will not gonna have a P2 option a least it would be nice to have one firewire connection on it? the P2 portable is not very compact and mobile solution!

it would be a shame to give up from the DVCPRO HD codec, it is such a great codec!!!

if this cam will gonna have the new GH2 sensor (that "they" announce with global shutter) it will be a gr8 revolution, at least the pro version of this cam will be gr8, like in the case with HPX170 and HMC150

The way to record to P2, if it isn't included on the camera itself, is through the promised HDSDI connector to an external recorder like the HPG20, which takes AVC-Intra 10-bit or DVCProHD100/50.

But what will be the output rez/frame rate? Will it output through HD-SDI the frame rate being recorded on the camera?

Also, I think that even though DVCPRO HD is an awesome codec wanted by everyone, I think Panny is still trying to keep this cam a little cheaper for some on a little more of a budget, so the SD card workflow with AVCHD is a lot cheaper.... Maybe if this thing is a hit, they will release a more professional version with P2, DVCPRO/AVCINTRA CODECS, Firewire, etc...
