AF 100 Firmware Upgrade Ver 1.16 Available

I bought the Lumix X lens, because it seems that the anticipated fast zoom lenses do not have Power Zoom and I needed urgently a good zoom lens for a project. But, if the fast zooms do have Power Zoom, then I have to rethink my decision. Time will tell …

Here is a small sample video I shot with the new Lumix X tele lens. This lens seems to be much more parafocal than the 14-140: The focus stays sharp while zooming and it can even focus while zooming! And the iris is very smooth: The AF100 shows stops increments of 0.1! I like this lens very much and I hope that the Power Zoom will also works with remotes.

Gugliano- thanks for the sample video- it looks very nice, and the focus follows surprisingly well as the lion approaches the tree and wood at 1:17.

But then as you zoom out, the difference in exposure from 1:38 to 1:48 is noticeable, and was a sign to me that iris was not changing as the lens got wider and faster.
What is the wide open aperture range of this lens?

I just happened upon your post in this thread, and wonder if you might want to start a new thread on this lens so it's not buried in this Firmware Upgrade thread?
Share your thoughts and post some more samples perhaps, experiment with the zoom, focus and iris?
Others (like Barry was) may be interested in your thoughts on this lens. Thanks!

Yeah, it's a bit off topic. I will start a new thread and post there my experiences with this lens.

You are right: At 1:38 when I zoom out the iris does not adapt and the image is a bit overexposed, but it is strange that it stays like that. I have to mention that I had to correct the color, because I had no time to adjust the white balance before shooting.
The lens goes at its widest from 4.0-5.6 when you zoom in.
Today, I will get the new remote (Manfrotto 521P) to control zoom and Start/Stop. Hopefully, it will work on the AF100 and the X lens! Stay tuned.

My old Varizoom controller controls the zoom over it's entire range, and the focus over the near part, on both the new power Vario Lumix lenses. I wonder if upgrades address these lenses for the AF100?
