AF 100 and RED ONE MX

I have recently shot three projects where I have intercut footage from a RED ONE and an AF100 and am amazed at the results. I will post results here soon. Has anyone else had any experience with this?

I actually ended up selling my RED ONE MX because most of my RED customers either want AF100, F3, or Alexa. I love shooting RED, but for a producer to get 90% of what they can at a fraction of the cost (AF100) these days is good enough I guess.

Love seeing people swinging this way. Good to know the AF100 is valued for "hiring" on the same level as F3 and alexa for certain projects.
I feel like the AF100 and the Samurai will make this one helluva package.

The af100 is kinder than the f3 for interviws. The frightenengly sharp f3 is very unforgiving to aging talent. Red even more.

The af also has panny mojo. Though for the first time ever, a sony camera has some mojo. The F3 just has some magic to it as well.

Indeed, in my example above, on a 42" Panasonic plasma, several people thought that the guy looked "younger" on the AF-100.

This was mainly because the RED, of course resolves much more detail.

You could also make out the fine stitching detail better on the guy's v-neck sweater on the Red footage as well.

Man, that's something you wouldn't think about, but is a very valid issue. Some of the local News personalities here sure as heck can't have loved the switch to HD...

I literally was just thinking about this! I am working on a film (shot RED ONE MX) where I'll need quite a bit of B-Roll and I'm wondering if AF-100 will cut it.

What if I was going to do projection or blow up? This will be theatrical. I need something under 10k that will inter-cut.

1080P transferred to film does NOT look bad. I know that for a fact. I just want to make sure that the difference is not extremely noticeable from the RED MX footage.

I cannot rent because I'll be shooting B-Roll at different times in different places.

I'd think it'd depend on exactly what type of scene you're trying to intercut, a well lit scene with one or two people in close up, or a super wide shot with lots of action.

You'd have to think that a wide action packed exterior shot would be tougher to match in terms of resolution and color then a tightly controlled studio setting.

Not sure how sensitive a RED is versus a AF100, but night exterior shots might be tricky as well.
