Thought I would share some aerial videography I did with the DVX100.

There are two short demo videos available at the link below. One was shot in Gorema which is a ancient cave city in central Turkey. The other video was mostly shot over the French Alps.

Let me know what you think.

Nice looking footage. I really like the stuff from Turkey. I spent about 6 months there last year and really fell in love with alot of the places there. Lots of history. Job well done.

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

Thank you. The video was almost completely untouched. I did do some color correction on a few shots in Photoshop as a "filmstrip format". Photoshop has the best tools but because the files it creates are too large and slow to work with its not practical except for short cuts.

Love to hear more feed back good and bad.

Do you use AE any? It has just about the same color correction tools as photoshop.

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

Im going to have to do side by side color correction sample some day. Sometimes I really push the colors and when your already dealing with a DV codec you need the best program you can get to still have smooth gradation. I did however color correct one shot because it needed to be selectively masked. Thanks. Anymore thoughts about the footage, good and bad?

Inspiring footage of Turkey! Balloons are magical things, aren't they?

Nice demo work.

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

Hey Brett,
Maybe I missed it but did you use the DVX on some of these shots, if so which ones? By the way fabulous work. :o

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

All of the footage was shot with the DVX100 with only a few shots color corrected in post for dramatic effect. I did however use a ND grad on a few shots to even out the latitude in situations where even film would have had a problem. If you look closely you can sometimes see the edge of the filter but its well outside the tv safe area.

BTW Im working on the site right now so if anyone is having trouble playing any of the videos let me know and tell me if your on a mac or pc so I can trouble shoot them.

Thanks for all of the great words.

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

WOW! Thats probably the best aerial videography I have seen shot on the DVX100. Do you work on music videos and short films as well? Whats your day rate? Heres my email. Somebody hire this guy!

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

Thanks Peter. Yes, in fact alot of my work is on films and music videos. As far as my rate is concerned that depends on the needs of the project. I'll contact you off list.

Anyone have a critique of the videos? I want to hear the negative opinions too. Thats one of the best way to progress in something afterall.

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

I want to hear some critiques guys!

In your opinion: Whats missing? How can I make these better? Why did you like it? Why did you hate it?

Help me out here.

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

good lookin stuff brett where did you get the music , was it made for this footage ?

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

Thanks. Its a song from spy game so no, it wasn't scored for the film. I edited the clips to the music instead.

The sites down for a few days guys untill I can finish the transfer over to its new address at www.PremiereVisions.com.
Check the site then and the changes soon to come.

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

hey brett one more thing , were those shots done with the anamorphic adapter?

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

Bonjour Brett,

Nice films, I really like the one in Turkey. Nice pictures from the air balloun.

For your information:

I was not able to open the small version in Quick Time for both of them, I'm on a Mac. The larger version work, but the resolution wasn't clean.

Re: Aerial Travel Videography Demos (DVX100)

Everything was shot full screen and then letterboxed in post. I didn't use a 16X9 anamorphic adapter. Soon I hope to use true 2.35 anamorphics on my camera. Im part of a group of people that are designing/building their own Mini35 inspired device. Should make for one incredible picture.

Thanks for the update on the site. I'll fix thoughs links very soon.

BTW the montage demo reel was shot half on film and half on the DVX100.
