Aerial shots with DVX?

A filmmaker friend of mine is planning to attempt a few aerial shots from, according to his description, a Cessna airplane flying at around 60 mph. I am wondering if this sort of thing is possible with the DVX without any kind of rig for the plane or steadicam device. And what would be the ideal shutter speed to use? Any info would help a lot.

Thanks!

I have a midterm project mostly with aerial shots including landing/taking of from a glacier in the Alps. I'm interested in such experiences too. What HVX Rec Format would be the best - I'm in favor of 1080i/50i? How to mount the HVX? Filters (circular polarizer)?

When shooting from a Cessna hand-held, you need to get the pilot to bank the plane sufficiently to give you a vertical angle to the ground. If you are at a relatively low altitude your window of opportunity for the shot tends to be small so make sure the pilot is prepared to make several passes. We've pretty much found that the extra expense of renting helicopter time is justified in urban areas in order to hover and slowly circle the objective.

Wrong Forum....

The thread was apparently started in the wrong forum but my reply belongs to the HVX/Technical part.

Hi vislaw - I have to use an airplane because landing and taking of from the glacier will be the highlight (gag) of this shooting. I assume that a fix mounting of the HVX is not advisable because of the vibrations.
