Hi There,

Wish to conduct an interview over a webcam. I've never hooked up or used a webcam before. Any suggestions on hardware, software and best technique? I'll be using a powerbook g4 1.5 with OSX 10.3.9. What set-up for best image and audio quality as well? Also, will there be any issue if they are on PC on their end and Mac on mine?

Appreciate any info,
Dale

if you're going to interview over the internet, i dont' think the hardware matters a lot. not as much as getting proper lighting. That will be tricky if the person on the other end of the cable is clueless about the matter of lighting.

among the video conf stuff i've tried, i find skype 2.0 to be the most 'real time' i've seen, with the highest video framerate and audio quality. and also doesnt need lots of volume settings for the audio. there is for both mac and pc and it's free.

i'm sure there are other more 'professional' kinds of softwares though. while the audio with skype is decent, the video size is kind of small. i think you can make it bigger though.

using pc on one end and mac on the other shouldnt be an issue. but check.

Thank you for the Info Andea. I've just been looking into Skype, but I don't think there's video option on the Mac version. What about camera, can you use a video camera or do you need a webcam?
