GH2 Advice on GH2 gear

ello ello,

i'm going on a shoot for a charity to india in about a month and a half and i'm beginning to get concerned as i just bought the gh2 for the project a few weeks back. i was wondering if people could advise me on actual necessary kit to take. there is SO much out there i can't discern what is crucial and whats not.

its a doc style shoot. at the moment all i have is a tripod, the 20mm pancake, the 50mm canon fd and er...thats it.

i'll assume a monitor/evf of some sort is going to be necessary for focussing and realistic exposure. what else do shooters that have shot long form advise ?

thanks a lot.

- Some sort of stabilization, even if it's just a monopod or the ~$80 eBay "DSLR Rig." Neither of those lenses has OIS and it will show. In a pinch, use your tripod as a simple shoulder rig.
- Lots of batteries - Panny brand are worth it, IMO. More than one charger.
- SOUND. Anything better than on-camera. Videomic/VMP, Senn MKE400, at the very least can work just fine with the 20mm when you walk up to frame an interview. On-camera sound can work in a pinch, but for anything critical, use an external recorder on which you can monitor your recording.
- Might recommend a decent zoom. Pan 14-140, Leica 14-50, Oly 14-54, Nikon 17-55, or the like. Best to avoid switching lenses if things get dusty/splashy... of course, shooting a whole doc at 40mm might be nifty.
- A spare camera. Anything. Just in case your main cam takes a dive or otherwise suffers reprehensible villainy which would otherwise bring about a hastened end to your production.
- Lots of SD cards and a safe place in which to keep them. At prices today, no sense in re-using these if you can help it. Any sort of backup solution, even if it's just a netbook with an external USB drive.

thanks..
