I need to get a shot of the sunset or dusk but I always get alot of grain any advice I use a DVX100b, some settings would be nice.

do you have "gain" going on with your camera? Gain likes to kick in at low light levels.

Its tricky because as you lose light you'll get more noise. Make sure your gain control is set to off - not on auto. I rarely shoot using the auto iris, but when shooting a sunset it may be the best way to get a smooth transition.

Do you want to shoot an entire sunset? If you do, then you might consider setting the camera for a good exposure and letting it run. If you are trying to maintain the same levels of light as the sun goes down, then you will have to keep opening the iris and changing settings. Don't use gain at all, as several of the other posts here have said, as gain does increase noise. I've shot at sunset/dusk and I've always dialed the iris to get the look I want in camera for a specific shot,i.e. do I want a silhoutte behind a rich backdrop, or do I want the subject lit in a recognizable way? I'd experiment DVD tape is cheap, after all.
