Advice on basic lighting kit

Hi there - I'm doing some videography and am looking to put together a basic lighting kit, but I need some advice...

Most of my shoots will be outside in the field, and I may need to carry gear some distance (so lightweight lights with batteries could be smart).

Would I be best just getting one or a few LED panels, with both tungsten and daylight options? For occasions when I'm shooting indoors and have time to set things up properly, would it still be fine to use the LEDs, or are they considered quite inferior to other lighting options?

Would three lights in a basic kit be a good idea?

Thanks so much for any tips!

First thing you need to do is.... Set a budget, for your lights, light stands, color correction gels/diffusion, IDX batteries, battery charger, travel cases.

If you're doing a lot of outdoor shooting the first thing you should do is get some reflectors... If you're thinking about LEDs (especially outside) you need to consider that their strength is not throwing a great quantity of light, but their portability. Are you trying to do night exteriors? Day? More info would be helpful...
