Advice on a trailer

We recently finished a simple short about a couple breaking up. I've put together this trailer and need some advice. It's a simple story (we're starting out so we started simple) and I want to cut a better trailer but the story is so simple it's hard not to give it away. So your citiques are very welcome.
P.S. There has been no CC yet or anything. Some scenes are orange because we used gels and I thought that it would be an interesting look to contrast the break-up. The whole film isn't orange I was just experimenting with some looks. (I figure now is the best time to do that) Anyhoo here's the link...

Hmmm... that's a tough one.

First, it looks like it's coming together VERY nicely. Great camera movement, audio sounds good, composition looks good, well lit, and acting is believeable. That right there is saying a LOT.

As far as the trailer, I agree, it needs more. Unfortunately, I don't know what you have to work with, or how "simple" this story is, so I really can't give too much advice.

A couple things to try: more character developement in the first 1/3rd part of the trailer. Give us a bit more to show who these people are, and why we want to know more about them.

Pick up the pace just a tad. Personally, I like slow pacing in films, and also how this is coming along, but I think the pace needs to be picked up a bit (but not too much). Throw in a few more shots here and there.

I think the trailer really leave's us hanging, and thats a good thing. You don't have to know exactly what is going on, but you do need to want to find out more, and it's working here.

I'm sure I've got more, but gotta go...

I'll try and come back later/watch it again.

I've re-edited the trailer to try to pick up the pace a bit... I hope it doesn't expose too much and make you feel like the whole story is laid out there... Although knowing the film I know it's not but that's neither here nor there regarding a trailer... anyhoo take a looksy and I would love to hear your impressions... Thanx guys and gals...

I wasn't wild about the text. Some pop in, some fade in. IMO it should be reworked a little. The shots look great to me and with some CC will be really nice. I do think we need to know more about the characters though in order to draw us into the movie.

how long is it? if its like 5 mins or so then maybe thats all you can show without giving away the whole thing. looks like you're doing a good job so far though. i was expecting a lot worse when you said you were just starting out. looks great man.

i didnt like the text font either. check out a few romance or dramas and try and use a similar font to what they use. believe it or not, fonts say alot and should reflect on the genre.

experiment and learn from your mistakes and keep the budget low so you can do as many as possible.
