Hey guys.
We shot a little feature at the end of last year on a couple of hacked Gh1's, very happy with how the camera performed. The thing is i have a few little scenes left to shoot, i was thinking of shooting with a mates Gh2, with the hack, and working away. But i have one particular shot in mind, that i want to use for an opening credit sequence. it is a very slow zoom out from a close up of the protagonist to reveal himself in his work place, which is in the ring in a cattle mart. see the video below for a crude example of the set up. you see the guy in the green in the ring. What im looking for a is a shot that starts as tight as i can get on him, tracking around as he does his job, then to do a creep zoom out to slowly reveal teh crowd around him. this will be accompanied by the sound of the mart around him and the a theme song, of the counrty and western variety. so what im looking for is a bit of a 70's vibe for the opening.
THe thing is i dont have any lenses or know any lenses that would suit getting the that scope of a zoom for the GH1/2. i have a guy offering me a large p2 camera, not sure what it is, but i know id be in safe hands with the length of the zoom and no rolling shutter. the only things is im afraid it will look a wee bit too video-y/amateurish.
does anyone have any advice on possible routed i could take?
i know a rental place that has a 12 - 120 zeiss distagon s16 zoom, though i would have to get hold of a pl adapter. would that zoom length get me the coverage i would need on a gh2 with ETC on?
are there any other camera/lens combos that might get me close to that lovely vintage look i have with the Gh1 on the fd's??
Cheers.
