Hi, I have seen a DVX100A on offer with 39 hours on drums and which is £400 cheaper than a brand new.

Is this a good offer? For the sake of £400 am I better off buying a brand new or is 39 drum hours good?

Thanks

I would get a new one just for peace of mind. But I am cautious about old cameras because my last one crapped out on me.

Thanks a lot, I think I needed to hear that.

I got a great deal on a used camera that had about 20 hours on the heads. The extra money saved went towards a mattbox and some filters.

Do you know the seller? Can you trust them? Do they live nearby? Will you have a chance to see the camera and check it out before buying?
Some of these other factors may be more important.

Good luck.

400 pounds ($750?) is a bit of change. DO you buy used cars? Personally I buy new and use them forever, so I bought a new camera too (with extended warranty).

I found a place who rent cameras and they sell they old AG-DVX100A for 3000$(CDN) + taxes. On the hour meter, you can have a camera with 100 or 300 hours of shooting already done. They come with a warranty of 3 months and the recording heads are clean.

A brand new one is about 4400$(CDN).

It is a deal? Or a steal?

What your point of view about the offer of that place? Because I'm very interested to purchase a DVX100A but, 4400$ + taxe is a bit expensive for me (right now).

Finally, the question is : Do I wait for a brand new one or a used one?

I got good deal on a DVX100, at $2500 CDA. I bough it from Halifax film-maker. It had just come from an overhaaul at Panasonic Service. Works fine.
