ok so i have two job offers. one job is a "guest services" position @ a popular fx place (reelfx.com) here in dallas. second one is a position working in the "job placement assistance" @ a school/ institute. im in debt ($1700) w/ my best friend for putting my G5 on his credit card which has no interest until Nov.2006. i can either go take the "job placement assistance" position which is like 10min from where i live and would pay me around $10.50/hr+ OR i can take the "guest services" position downtown at the fx place and build contacts, be in an environment that i want to be in, and take most likely a position for $8/hr+ (don't really know their pay rate).

i need some freakin help people!

TERRY LASTER i want your opinion! :)

FX house. keep building on your work and contacts... and take it before someone else does. the other place sounds like a sidetrack for only a couple dollars more an hour. stay focused on the motion media if that is what you want in the future.. it is a long tough road.

Heh heh... :) I figured when I clicked on this thread your question would be something like. "Hey guys, I have 400' of 16mm film to shoot; any ideas?". :cheesy:

btw, I concur with Kovarova.

Yea I was thinking the same thing.....

Aaron didn't you just quit your job a couple weeks ago? Frankly if I were young like you I would take the FX job since it is in the industry where you want to be. Once you are in and prove yourself you should be able to make up that money in the future. Just my nickel.

yeah i just quit. but i totally forgot i owe someone some $. so i gotta make up for it. QUICK! unless we put together a "aaron wade fundraiser"! :) hmmm doesn't sound like such a bad idea...

Go with ReelFX. I met with the owner at nab and he was a really cool guy. It's a solid company with a nice load of work. Your foot in the door there is worth much more than the couple dollars an hour you may have to sacrifice vs the other job.

$1700 isn't debt.
at your age, unless you have extenuating circumstances, always take the gig that will help you more in the long run.
all right, enough time on my soap box. hope you enjoy whichever direction you choose. And best of luck.
