Advice needed - how to capture files for older MC on different OS?

Hi guys,

I'm capturing some tapes for a friend (MiniDV and DVCPro50) - I'm on Snow Leopard with MC5 (also have MC4). The problem is that he has a much older version of Avid Media Composer, version 2.8.4, and he's on Windows.

Because I have to do this over the weekend and can't use his machine, is there anything I can do to make sure the digitized files are compatible on his machine? Or is he out of luck until he upgrades?

Avid media and bins are backwards compatible. Just capture the footage to an external drive, drop the Avid bin on the drive, and give the drive to your friend. They can drop the bin into their project, plug in the drive and the media should relink.
