Advice & forms for Renting Gear out?

Hello All,

I'm wondering if anyone has a generic form they use when renting their gear out to other parties?

I'm renting my HMC150 out to the nonprofit TV station I intern at for two weeks. It'll be covered under their insurance, but I just want to make an invoice to bill them for it and also for both of our records.

Also is it customary to receive rental fee upfront? Or is "Net-30" the standard?

Any advice would help.

an equipment rental invoice doesn't need to be complicated, just issue an invoice that says who is renting to whom (FROM; your name and address, TO; their name and address), indicate the gear rented, rate, date and some sort of project reference. you have a record and they have one too, that's all that's needed.

net 30 is normal. i'd want to be fairly confident that their insurance is in place.
 
Any insurance company can generate a COI with your name on it quickly. Always ask for this. In addition, have a credit card on file in case that falls through.
 
I always ask for a COI from the client's insurance. Never had a problem getting one.

I just need more rentals ;)
