I rented a GH5S a few weeks ago for work, and on the last day, I shot in a few different modes to get a sense of what the camera can do in high ISO situations. When I reviewed the footage i shot at ISO 3200, I was surprised to see that the 10 bit HLG files looked much better than the 8-bit Natural profile. By "better," I mean it looks like there is more detail in the HLG footage. The overall image looks a lot cleaner, with a subtle bit of grain that reminds me of my BMPCC. Comparing that to the 8 bit footage shot in the Natural profile at the same ISO, the 8 bit footage looked like it had a lot of noise reduction/compression artifacts. Shadow details are smeared away even with NR set to -5. Unfortunately I don't have the GH5S any more to do some more scientific testing, but I was wondering what other GH5/GH5S users think. Does HLG record cleaner video?
