I thought they would do this but I didn't think it would be this soon. I was thinking they would have come out with CS7 first.
Again my issue is not "hooking up to the internet"... My problem is that once you stop paying Adobe you will not have any thing that works.
Maybe it's just me but that is a major issue.
I think that this is an issue too. I have Vegas 9 on another machine that I can go to for older projects without having to redo them in Premiere. I don't know... I think that piracy is awful and I don't blame a software company for doing whatever they have to to stop it. However I buy software. I'm a good customer. I'm invested in Premiere Pro CS6 and pay gladly for upgrades. I have invested countless hours in learning how to use it, seminars, lynda.com, hours of reading. I think this idea that you stop paying and you're out is just crappy. I'm in... they should let me pay and stay in and keep the product that I paid for. If for some reason, I can't continue the subscription... I should be able to keep the software. They should just do both. I like that people have the choice and I understand why they like it... but I don't.
Why can't they have the app call in every 180 days and check my license? Fine by me! Final Draft does that, so does IntelliJ (a java development IDE) to check how many machines it's running on, so why not enforce the license that way. Then if someone is running their software off a bogus license, go after them, or better hobble the darn thing. So the app calls in, doesn't check out and eats a poison pill. Why not?
If they can shut down the app because your subscription has lapsed why can't they shut down instances using bogus keys? I'm probably missing something but I think this kinda stinks.
I don't get why good paying customers have to work around their inability to enforce their licences. The more I think about it the more I think that Adobe is just creating a different revenue model where their incentive to improve the software, and add features, has less, not more to do with what they offer and the satisfaction of their clients.
