I live in Connecticut. Does anyone know of a "hands on" seminar or class for Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 anywhere near me?

Tried the adobe website..I tried to find classes in Ct, NY, Mass...coming up with nothing

Re: Adobe Premiere Pro

Try going to a community college and see if they offer any classes.

Re: Adobe Premiere Pro

The folks at lynda.com https://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modPage.asp?ID=129 just released their Premiere Pro 1.5 class which includes 7 hours of training. You can sign up for just $25 a month and get access to all of their titles. They are Quicktime videos that take you through everything and you can stop and try it yourself as they go along.

Hope that helps,
Lisa

Re: Adobe Premiere Pro

Yeah, thanks Lisa....the thing is, I have TOTAL TRAINING DVD's that I'm trying to watch...and I have to be honest..I'M LOST! What I need is someone to kick start me thru the basics. I'm watching these DVD's and I'm completely overwhelmed. I'm not a novice to editing..I've used I-Movie..which is primitive, I know, but I usually can grasp stuff quickly...but Adobe Premiere so far is very complicated.

Re: Adobe Premiere Pro

i love the total training dvd's, i bought the entire set for after effects and basically got the others (premiere, audition and encore) for free.

if you want hands on 1beyond.com in boston does VERY good hands on course.

i only took it because a friend bought a ton of gear from them and he got a couple of certificates for classes and he gave me one of them.

i took a two day course on premiere years ago and i learned an awful lot.

Re: Adobe Premiere Pro

Adobe puts out a training book that was amazing for me... Go to Amazon or somewhere like that and look up Adobe Premiere CLASSROOM IN A BOOK. Awesome! Do it now!

Re: Adobe Premiere Pro

Does the software supplier offer a hands on demo. You might find that just enough to kick start you into Premiere and then let Total Training Series take over.

You may have a specialist imaging software supplier near you.

Re: Adobe Premiere Pro

funny i've heard the same thing about vegas from people that were used to other apps. THe best thing to do for me at least is to get a good reference book and just do it. edit a few projects and you'll start to catch on.

Re: Adobe Premiere Pro

indeed ransom. PPro is like a lot of editors out there. Vegas is sort of the oddman out. It's interface is NOT like most NLEs and causes many people to struggle when they want to change (nice marketing approach...).

That said, I honestly can't say which is more intuitive to begin with. I started with Premiere and found the interface to be just fine. Once I tried vegas though and I hated the interface as I was already accustomed to premiere.
