Adobe OnLocation

I got my hvx in december. I am in preproduction on my first short and I am looking for the best, most inexpensive way to monitor my footage during recording. Our budget is really small and I was wondering if adobe onlocation was a good enough monitor for color balance/focus etc. I dont think we can afford a $1000 monitor so I was hoping that this program with my laptop would be a good compromise.

OnLocation is a great tool for use with the HVX. It's so much easier to focus and make setting tweaks on a larger screen with pixel for pixel resolution. The scopes really do help you make better lighting and exposure decisions. OnLocation can be picky about your laptops' display drivers however. I had to install XP on a separate partition of my Vista machine to get it to work properly. And you have to buy Premiere Pro or the whole Production Premium suite to get OnLocation now.

I have CS3 suite and was told it will only run on Vista. But it seems you are saying you can install XP(sure do miss it) and On Location will work from there. Do you have CS3?

Yep it works on Vista and XP pro service pack 2 or greater.
