Adobe cs4 issue

Hi all, just a quick question. I have been trying to edit my af100 footage in adobe cs4 but been having problems. Alot of the time artifacts appear that aren't in the raw footage at all. Also the clips just turn to a green screen a lot of the time to. It's also very slow which is a worry as my laptop i just bought should be fast, intel quad core 8 gb ram, ssd drive etc. Any one experience these issues? I've heard people talk about editing on inferior machines so I'm confused. I import the files straight into adobe, is there something else I should be doing? I've imported single shots and made videos and they've seemed fine :S

It's funny you should mention that. I was editing a project just yesterday and I saw some really ugly artifacts come up, I was going to screen cap it but the strangest thing is that when I go back frame by frame, they don't appear. But they always show up on the same mark when played in real time. I haven't exported yet, but it could just be a glitch of some kind. Not in the footage though (I hope)

That's your preview settings set to draft mode. There's a dropdown in the top-right corner I think of the monitor window where you can change it to best quality.

If you are editing AVCHD, then the preview may drop frames, video quality, etc. to stay in sync with audio. The footage is usually fine. AVCHD playback is very resource-intensive. As TegrFX pointed out, you may try to find the sweet spot for your system capability by tweaking the preview settings. No regrets here for spending a bit more on a capable workstation (i7 4GHz, 24GB, SSD, nVidia GTX 570) for fluid CS 5.5.

Hi guys i have experimented with the presets, setting it to highest quality. There is still the same problem, sometimes when i preview or watch the timeline i hear the sound fine but the image will just stop or something, or go green! I have looked online for similar problems, some people mention converting the mts files? But i was lead to believe adobe cs4 should be fine with mts files etc?? Ahhh I'm worrying my new laptop isn't as good or fast as i hoped! Panic!

Yes, CS4 natively supports AVCHD. However, in most cases, it is the lack of processing power and/or other system resources to enable fluid preview. What is your system spec?
