Adobe alternative

Unfortunately After Effects is still the best for motion graphics :/ All other Adobe software is working great for me, my only issue is that damned Premiere Pro :/
True, for motion graphics it is the best. For VFX though, there are other options. Premiere CS6 was awesome. It caused me to leave Vegas after nearly ten years with that. Between CS6 and now though, I'm just not sure what happened

And here we go again. Wasted another hours because of PP - CUDA not working so have to use a software renderer (at least 4 times longer exports). Will give it a last chance by installing fresh Yosemite and then I'm done with it.

Anyone thinking that I am being an exception and exaggerating read this thread:

So, this is mainly a CUDA problem I presume? I am running cc 2015 on my old bucket 2008 8 core Mac Pro with a Radeon 5770 with little problems so far...

You know you can just redownload CC 2014 and use that.
Absolutely, I use both. I've made a mistake and imported few projects to CC15 - at the beginning it was working fine. Now I cannot get them back to PP14. As soon as I'll finish them I'm dumping PP15. Not only CUDA (but this is a main reason) but there are a lot more performance issues - I get crashes because of clicking, enabling features etc. As soon as I seen beach ball a chance of crash is about 70%, it's just generally buggy.

Sure you can.

Export your cc2015 project as an xml file

Open cc2014 and import it.

I've done it.

I just came back from BMs Nyc event and caught the Resolve 12 presentation by Alex Van Hurkman. Very promising. Nice editing interface and easy transcoding within program. They are definitely going for the final cut pro 7 people and those fed up with PP... The only thing that was sort of humorous is that they were describing the ability to do a roll edit as if they had re-invented the wheel :)

As a long time PP user I gotta say - DaVinci Resolve 12 beta looks like a whole new beast.
Once this goes into full release I'm probably going to be making a near-full time switch over.

Do you know if you can have dual monitor set up in Resolve (UI and full screen program monitor)? At least in editing mode. This is a big deal for me...

Okay, installed the CC 2015 update and now auto save to Cloud is not functioning. There is a message about "installing CC desktop app" which I have done. I am signed in, syncing is checked, etc. D'oh!

Anyone else having this problem?

I have updated to CC2015 and it is a disaster. They have improved multi-cpu processing (Windows 10) but the memory manager module is still leaking with any Lumetri use. I am trying to output a 1080P, 15 minute, H.264 project for web use. At 46% I get a "TDR detected" message and the encode stalls. This machine has been in use for over 6 months with no issues. 2x18 core xeon, 256gb ram multiple, SSD's. I never see more than 20% CPU usage, = 8 hours to encode, what a joke.

I am now looking at AVID, resolve, and Edius. MY question is which one will leverage my machine to its best potential?

Thank you.

Andrew

I am curious about this as well. For now I am getting by with CS5, CS6 and Vegas Pro, but I know that the time will come when I will have to upgrade; and it will not be to rental Adobe

I hear you and totally agree... PP15 is a joke. Not sure which way to go too.
