Admit it, you freak!

OK, I saw that thread about Olympic addiction. How about a thread about folks who not only did not watch one second of the Olympics, but didn't care to either... anyone here willing to admit that? Is there even ONE such person on dvxuser?

I'll go first. I did not watch, and have no regrets. In general, I'm a massive sports non-watcher. I'll watch just about anything else than sports on TV - or IRL. I've been to one baseball game in my life, and no basketball, football, soccer etc - though I have been to several tennis matches some years ago. I've never watched on TV: a complete basketball game, complete football, soccer, baseball etc. I admit I have watched tennis some years ago, both men and women, but I no longer do that either.

I'm simply bored and not interested in sports - although I do play tennis regularly, and I jog, bike, work out etc. But watching other people do stuff - no, no and no again. Not interested. Some guy jumped with a pole over something, somebody chased something or other - whooptie doo, good for him, I DO NOT CARE.

Now, I'm not saying sports watching is not an interesting thing in an of itself, just that different people have different interests. It's just that you almost cannot get together with a group of friends/acquaintances and not seem like a total freak if you admit "no, I did not watch that amazing game, performance, run etc.". So... anybody else here willing to admit to being a freak? Yeah, I know, it can be embarrassing :)

I already admitted such in the Olympic thread, and even went as far as to admit the only time I did pay any attention to it was during the women's volleyball and gymnastics. I know, I should be ashamed of myself :)

Tennis is the only sport I follow. But the Olympics do have a fascination. Could be because they're a lot of sports you otherwise never see.

this Olympics is Huge, the last one I didnt watch, it came and left without my knowing it lol, but this one is the cold war all over again. except even though we're losing the medal count, we're winning the hearts and opening the minds on the people of China, slowly showing them what Capitalism and Democracy can bring them. with events like this in the heart of China News that the Government if China doesn't want its people to learn is making it to the people.

This olympics is going to have more world impact since Jessie Owens.

I'll freely, and proudly, admit it!! I'm only interested in watching the sports I myself participate in. I watch motocross and supercross, and GP superbike racing, because I worked in a bike shop for a long time and I still ride.

That's it. Anything else, big deal. Not interested.

I live a 5min walk from Angel Stadium for 6 years and I've never seen the Angels play. But I do go to 2 or 3 supercross races every year!!

I've only watched about 3 hours of this Olympics. I seldom miss a Dodger game on TV, though.

Good, I am not the only one! I couldn't give a flying fart about a bunch of people bouncing, jumping, running, swimming, flipping or whatever else they do. I don't watch sports on TV, bunch of overpaid individuals anyway. Nothing against those that do, but it's not for me.

The worst is golf. Unless they make it so you can hit the opposing golfer with your clubs if they miss or something. Hmmmm, that might be okay. "Uh oh, Tiger missed that putt! Here comes Vejay with the wind-up and, Oooo! Tiger's gonna hurt tomorrow!"

I watched and thoroughly enjoyed men's and women's gymnastics, beach volleyball, swimming and several other sports. I get very patriotic during the Olympics.

Count me among the non-watchers. Too hard for me to find the right channel on Thai TV, even with PK's help. I thought I was watching the Olympics for about five minutes before I saw a banner in the background that said Asian Games 1999.

So, I don't think that counts.

Or could be because they're shot incredibly well for the most part and look great in HD.
:)

Actually....same here.

you're absolutelly correct, Luis: this Olympics have been a masterclass in broadcasting. Every single event has been fantastically covered: Brilliant bird nest shots, with brilliantly studied framming ( I remember the triple jump/high jump low angle shot with the athlete, track and the Olympic flame , or the cicling, marathon great wall/ tianamen shots...Everything has been simply spectacular).

Only thing I still feel is up to improvement are the super slow motion shots- they look washed out and losing colour and definition. The technology still needs to develop in these.

Phew - I'm not alone! The Olympics bore me to tears. I'm glad for those that compete and win, but I have zero desire to watch. It seems the Olympics were more "important" during a time when the world had four corners that few people ever traversed. It was a way to bring the world together [ironic that the Russian-Georgian crisis is occurring during these current Olympics]. But now we have the internet and other technologies that close that gap a bit and have made the world a smaller place.

The only thing I find truly interesting is that the Olympics are currently taking place in China. There are plenty of compelling news stories surrounding that.

Ohmygawd, and I thought I´m the only freak out there - now I know I´m not allone.

I don´t giva a flying fart for Olympics and I never watcht any sport in my life.
I played Baseball when I was a kid but never watched a game.

I feel it´s boring watching other poeple doing sports.

I live almost next door to a Icehokey stadium - 10 minutes ago they startet the first game of the season and it`s loud as hell - nuff sports for my taste.

I generally could care less. I do light the martial arts but rarely catch it. I like the winter Olympics because of women's ice skating, beyond that I'm over it.

I feel it´s boring watching other poeple doing sports.

Pretty much. I'm trying to figure out how to get back in shape for my next project, watching other "in-shape" people rarely helps (unless they're bodybuilders. LOL ).

Sorry, I can't join this club. I love Football (soccer). I watch the English Premier League every weekend and have been to several games. Can't get enough of it. When I am on the net and am not on this site I am on a football site (Liverpool FC specifically).

Most other sports I don't really care about though I normally watch the Super Bowl if it looks interesting. As for the Olympics, other than Phelps' last swim, Usain Bolt's first 100m, and the Women's beach Volleyball final I really have no interest.
