SON PMW-EX1. In the "audio set" menu there are Trim CH-1 and Trim CH-2 screens to adjust channel
sensitivity for the two external microphone channels.
I have been very happy with the camera, never really having the need to make these adjustments. Now that I am in that area, I can't seem to hear any difference. Without really knowing,
I am guessing this can be used to cut down on background noise or make a mic more sensitive, if that's what is wanted. The problem is, I can't hear that the adjustment makes any difference at all, monitoring the channel with headphones.
So, my question is, are pros actually using this adjustment and finding it heplpful?
Second, maybe more important, if I want a more sensitive channel, do I adjust the level towards the -41Db limit, or towards the -8Db limit? I have plodded along for 40 or so years never really understanding what decibels are, so unlikely to change in that regard.
Thank you. (Ed)
