GH2 Additional light reflections when shooting in dark

hiya guys,
there may be a simple answer to this question but i cannot figure it out. when i'm shooting in low light and there is e.g. a strong light source, there always seems to be a reflection of it somewhere else in the frame. so on pans, its awful as you see the light source inverted and normally green. does anyone else find this and how do i get around it without a huge matte box ?

It's a reflection of the light source from the camera's sensor. All digitial cameras have this issue, the only way to get rid of it is to not have super bright light sources surrounded by dark backgrounds in your shot, or to add your own lighting so you are not shooting wide open with high ISO settings.

This phenomenon is more prevalent on older lenses or when you have a filter in front of the glass element. If you have a filter on your lens, try removing it and see if that helps. Otherwise, modern lenses like the Lumix ones made for the micro 4/3 format, have anti-flare coatings that help minimize this issue.

Use a matte box, or a small flag mounted to one side to help keep stray light off of the lens. This helps cut any internal flare or reflections.
