VaricamLT: Additional Lens Mounts for the Varicam LT

How possible is it for third party lens mounts (eg. Sony E-Mount) to be fabricated for the Varicam LT?

I recently bought the Varicam LT with an additional PL mount and am looking for an affordable cinema zoom lens. Since most cinema zooms (which are par-focal) are not that affordable I was wondering if the FFD between the sensor and lens mount is sufficient enough for an E-mount on the Varicam body?

The Fujinon MK18-55mm T2.9 (Sony E-Mount) lens, which is slated to be released into the market in Summer 2017, is coming at a very affordable price point of $3800 USD.

The only other cine-style zoom that comes close to Fujinon (with matchable performance and features) is the Angenieux EZ-1 30 to 90mm.

Any thoughts?

i am Sure MYF services or some other reliable company can make another mount, but the issue I see with the sony E-mount is the Flange distance. it's 18mm, I'm not sure what the native flange on the LT body is but with the contacts on it I suspect making a mount for Sony E lenses would be a bit problematic.

I think the Angenieux EX lenses may be the way to go... the problem with glass designed for mirror-less mounts, is precisely what I've listed above, the flange is usually so shallow you can't use it on anything else.

Looks like the Angenieux EZ 1 30-300mm will be the cheapest / fastest cinema zoom once it releases. Three time the price of the Fujinon

I noticed Milan O. had also posted a similar query a few weeks ago, found it right after I submitted mine.

After reading your suggestion I am looking into buying some Nikon zoom lenses for the time being. I used to have some Nikon primes in the past (Both AI & AI-s) and liked their "look" (though they had its own drawbacks)

Currently I am using the Canon CN-E primes (24, 35, 50 & 85) but they are a bit heavy for run-gun documentary kind of work.

From what I understand the short E mount flange distance is one of the reasons Fujinon are able to price these lenses so aggressively.

What about the Fujinon 20-120mm? It is a bit slower than the Angenieux but 20-120mm is a far more useful range than is 30-90mm, imo. And at $11,500 the Fujinon XK20-120mm is in the same price range as the Angenieux EZ1. If you so chose later on you could add the servo motor / grip to the Fuji 20-120mm.

These frustrated inquiries from Varicam owners are further convincing me that my Fs7 purchase was a good one. I spent far less and Varicam owners are envious of my choice of available glass.

The Fujinon 20-120 can be bought at Duclos Lenses for $9999 without the servo motor, for those of you who are in the US.

The FS7 II seems to be a good camera, but I still prefer the Varicam image. An affordable lens won't change that. ;)

Not a fan of the fs7, BUT having a camera that can accept all kinds of different lenses is huge. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GLASS.

I'm in a good spot right now with my s35 cams. I have a C300 and F55 and I can put every lens I own on either camera: my Canon still lenses, my Canon cine primes, my Canon 17-120, even my 2/3" HD lenses.
