Adding extra weights to Steadicam Merlin

I am considering buying a Steadicam Merlin.
I believe the Steadicam Merlin package provides 6 middle weights.

I discovered B&H Photo sells individual middle weights for around $25.

Is it possible to add middle weights beyond the 6 included with the initial package?
I am wondering if additional middle weights would help with balancing heavier camcorders?

I have a Panasonic HMC150. I understand this camcorder will work with the Merlin - but I am concerned about having enough balancing weights - especially when using the camcorder with a shotgun mic and large battery.
 
The original Merlin could only handle the 6 middle weights (plus the start & end weights).

The new upgraded Merlin (with the metal gimbal), can hold an extra 2 pounds on the camera end. If I recall, that's 2 - maybe a 3rd - extra middle weights.

I wouldn't recommend going much over that though.

Regarding the "original" Merlin - are you referring to the "Garrett Brown Limited Edition Signature Series Merlin"? I want to ensure I buy the latest version.
