Picking up a 3 stop and 6 stop ND filter for those low fstop outdoor scenes. Is the internal IR filter adequate to handle the extra ND or should I think about an IRND option? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
If you get a six stop filter of any kind it really best have IR protection in it. Three stops is likely OK but it couldn’t hurt to have similar blockage.
Tiffens are popular for the price. They come in all different flavors. It's probably best to get a big one - 77mm/82mm - and use step rings with it for all of your lenses.
One piece of advice: never save money on anything that goes in front of your lens. You didn't buy a 5.7k hyper-sharp camera just to go sticking some crappy Hoya or cheapo filter on the front of it. Look to the premium brands, like Schneider or B+W, and if it seems like a really inexpensive deal, forget it and move on.
Thank you all for the reply. I was looking at the Firecrest Ultras. Expensive, but not too bad for a circular. I’ve used and liked
Break Through’s X4s and their magnetic versions seem intriguing, but no IR built in. Thanks again!
