Adding a UV filter, did I do right?

Taking the advice from this board the first thing I did was get a 72mm muticoated UV filter before I even turned on my camera. I searched everywhere to find filter installation instructions but could not find anything so I did this. First I removed the lens hood, next I screwed the filter in place then replaced the lens hood. Is this right? Also using this filter does it change anything that the camera automatically does, like focus? I guess I get confused as I never have used a camera that had the reflection shield in front of the lens. Does using the filter throw off what the reflection shield is suppose to do? I know to everyone else this might seem stupid but I just want to do things right!
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, you did just fine. The UV filter won't affect any camera settings or the function of the reflection mask. Enjoy your new camera.

Thanks Barry I appreciate your quick response. This camera is a very complicated device and learning all that it has to offer is quite a challenge.
You guys rock,
Mike

Re: Adding a UV filter, did I do right?

Viper one thing I might add, I don't know if anyone will agree with me, the lens cap that comes with the DVX has a belt clip thingy on the inside of the cap it doesn't interfer with the DVX lens because it is counter sunk a fair way in but it has the possibility of doing damage to your filter. So two options either get a normal 72mm lens cap from your local camera store or cut the clip off (this is what I did).
If you got a good quality filter then it should have no noticable effect on any of the functions of the camera. :)
