and now what used to be my external drive G is registered drive H. None of my vegas files in the drive are accessable. Is there a way for me to change the drive back to G?

Assuming XP: In Administrative Tools (Control Panel, if not the Programs "menu") go to Computer Management and then Disk Management.

Right-click the drive and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths.

You'll have to change the current "G" first to something else, then change H to G.

Vegas should handle drive letter changes without too much fuss.

When you open a project, and you're told your media files cannot be found, you are given the ability to search for the files. You just point it to the drive where the media is located and it should find it. The references to the media will be updated in the project and you should be able to access your media without problem.

Is Vegas not giving you this option when you open a project with media on your external drive?

Thanks guys. What I did was I deleted vegas from the drive and then installed it on drive D because I read that if you had both the program and the files on the same disk it puts stress on the machine. Well when I tried to open one of my past projects it automatically recognized the new file locations. Thanks for the advice, now I know what to do.
