I have had my camera in for service and I asked about adding PAL/NTSC switch to my 170. I know some on here have done this but they sent me a very concise email with the ackknowlegement form and I thought it might be good info. Sorry if this is a repost I had just never seen this form before on here I had not seen all this info in one place before so here you go.
From Pannasonic:
The cost of 59.94/ 50Hz system frequency switchability function upgrade for AGHPX170P is $500.00 + tax + S/H (UPS 2nd day).
Please be advised above optional upgrade irreversibly alters standard functionality of AGHPX170P camera.
Therefore, it is required the owner of the camera signs acknowledgement form accepting conditions of the upgrade before upgrade is performed.
Please print attached form, sign and fax it back to 201-348-5200.
Upon receiving signed form we will schedule the upgrade of your AG-HPX170P camera.
Download Form here
here are the terms and conditions:
I, undersigned below, acknowledge and accept the following conditions of the optional functional
upgrade of my AGHPX170P camera:
1. Camera has added 50/60 switchable function. “System frequency” menu in “Other function” allows
to select 59.94Hz or 50Hz.
2. The model name has been internally changed to AG-HPX171E. “DEVICE” in clip property of the
recorded clip by this camera will show AG-HPX171E.
3. Because model number was internally changed to AG-HPX171E any future software upgrades
performed by user via SD card need to be installed as for AG-HPX171E. It is the customer’s
responsibility to download the proper files from the Panasonic Support website. Repairs of any
damages done to the camera resulting from usage of the incorrect files are not going to be covered
under the manufacturer’s warranty.
4. All SCENE files previously saved or downloaded for AGHPX170P models will not work any longer
due to internal model number change.
5. The Serial number of the camera has been internally changed to a new number as well as on the
model serial number label on the unit. Please confirm.
6. PASS registration has been already modified by Panasonic to reflect the new serial number. PASS
system will show equipment listed only with renewed serial number.
Hope this helps.
