Add a jpg file to the camera for 2.35:1 guides

I am trying to add a jpg file to the camera with guides for 2.35:1 so I can add a transparent overlay over the LCD screen and trace lines for guides when shooting. I seem to get a black frame rather than the jpg. Anyone know a way around this?

all the best

Admittedly I have no idea what yer talking about, but jpgs don't have transparency so if you created a jpg image in, say, photoshop and saved it as a jpg anything that had a transparency to it would no longer exist. You would need to use a png for that.

I assume the issue is in your photoshop settings, not the camera. Make sure your background color is white, or not black. Then save as or export to jpg. experiment with formatting the card, taking a photo, then drop the file on your SD card.

Thanks guys but I have come up with another way of doing it. The problem is (I think) because the camera only reads a file that has been recorded on it. You can't put a jpg file on the card via a card reader even if you name it correctly and put it in the correct path. There must be something the camera does to be able to see the file on screen and this is omitted when you create a jpg outside of the camera.

thanks again

man just use the custom guideline and move the horizontal line to the very top of screen and click down 28 times, draw your 1st line & then place it at the bottom and click up 28 times to draw your 2nd line.

(i presume you have a screen protector on your LCD and arnt drawing straight on the screen.)

now you have the 2.35:1 guidelines, there's an older post where i suggested this and a number of people confirmed it to be spot on

the 28 click rule copyrighted 2010. hahaaaaa, thats a joke use and abuse  and pass it on to fellow croppers.
