I try to research questions everywhere I can before I post here, so I don't want anyone thinking I'm lazy.
But I am generally perplexed by a couple of things.
The first is why the Sony manual is so limited in describing what certain functions do? Often the manual will just say, "This switch turns the function on." But doesn't describe what the function actually does.
Is it that Sony assumes if you own an FS7 you must be smart already?
The second thing, somewhat related to the first, is what the adaptive matrix actually does.
From what I've found, and this is in reference to other Sony cameras, not the FS7, it apparently aids in toning down intense colors, especially blues or blue spikes that might occur under LEDS. I guess, that is, unless you are trying to emphasize blue for some reason.
If it is meant to be a compensation for LED lights, then this would seem to be a good feature to keep on, but I was curious if this feature was specifically developed because of LED lighting or was it meant for all overly saturated or intense colors.
Sony provides a picture to illustrate its function (not in the FS7 manual), but the point of the picture seems to show it affecting primarily blues.
Under Pre-Select in Matrix, you have the option of trying to curtailing greens from florescent light with the FL light setting.
Was Adaptive Matrix developed as compensation setting in response to the blues you can get from LEDs? I honestly don't know.
