Adapter for Leica R and M lenses ???

We are using Leica R and M lenses on the AF 100 with success. But we would love to use these lenses on the F3 or FS100. Novaflex, MTF, Sony, P+S Technik...Any hope within the next year??

It appears that the Leica M to F3 mount alluded to may require some flange adjustment on the F3, unlike the MTF mount for Nikon to F3. Back-focus is not something I would relish in the field when going from one lens to another (see excerpt from Mfr.'s website posted below). It would seem that a dedicated mount/adaptor, rather than a one size fits all, would eliminate that inconvenience, but I have yet to find one. MTF did say that it is on their to-do list but for when?

"The PS-IMS-F3 consists of an intermediate flange and various lens mounting rings allowing the use of virtually all professional 35mm lenses. All you need to do is to exchange the original PL mount with the PS-IMS-F3 intermediate flange. There’s no need for any modification of the F3 or its FZ mount. The F3’s back focus adjustment function allows easy installation and adjustment without any shimming. Of course, existing IMS users can keep using their IMS lens mounting rings with the PS-IMS-F3 intermediate flange ..."

I have a P+S Technik Leica M to F3 adapter due to arrive in a week or so, and will test it with the F3. It's pricey, but if it means I can use my Leica glass then it buys me some time before I'd need to invest in more glass. If you've been using M lenses for video already, have you found a solution for follow focus?

i have tested the leica m with f3 . The one selling in EBAY from poland works just fine.

Can you post a little more info on how to find this auction? I searched for "leica m f3" which didn't find it and "leica m pl" which found way too many auctions.

Allstar lens adapter system

Allstar lens adapter system

Just wanted to write in and say that I've recently received the Allstar lens mount system for the F3 and really like it. It allows for the use of a variety of lens mounts including Leica R and makes changing between lenses (including those made by different makers) very quick and convenient. It is also really solidly built - and all at a price that to me seems quite reasonable. I put my Leica R 70-180 2.8 lens (about 4 pounds) on my F3 using this system and it takes the weight very well. Given that as a system it's portable between multiple cameras now (and hopefully more so in the future) it's something to consider for an F3.F3 A mount.jpg

Anyone have experience with the P+S Technik Leica M to F3 adapter?

I had one for a week but returned it. The adapter works fine, but Leica M lenses are not ideal ergonomically due to the small size, the focus tab built into the lens, and the short focus throw on most lenses. The lens also had a bit of play in the mount when attached to the adapter.

I ended up putting together a set of Leica R lenses, converted them to Nikon mount, and now use them with the Prolock adapter which has a positive lock on the mount similar to the All Star. The Leica Rs have a longer focus throw and can easily have focus gears added to them.

Thanks for the info! Where did you find Leica R glass?

I found a couple of lenses on Ebay and the rest I bought from an individual who became tired of waiting for a digital R still camera that as yet has not been produced. I still watch a few focal lengths on Ebay but the word is out and prices are rising. I saw a mint 90mm R go for $3300 about two months ago, and last week one sold for $3800+.
