Adapter/Camera issues?

When ever I attach my canon fd lens using an adapter, a message saying, "The lens is not attached properly," appears. If i take the lens off, the sensor still works since i see bright white images on the screen. But every time I try attaching the lens, the message would appear a few seconds right after. Anyone have any idea whats going on? I think that the adapter is made of brass or aluminum, if that matters.

I have seen the same thing- randomly happens- when switching lenses a lot.

First off- don't switch out lenses with cam turned on.

I know this sounds sketchy but, if you give the adapter, (with lens attached), a slight shift back and forth- like your trying to screw it on tighter and looser- carefully of course- sometimes does the trick-
also- try hitting your green PLAY button, (to go into play/review mode) and switching back and forth from live/standby mode to PLAY mode- sometimes works too.
Ultimately, I believe it has something to do with the locking mechanism, (which is part of the lens release button)- I think some of the adapters the hole in which the locking mechanism goes into isn't big/burrowed out enough.

No matter how much I wiggle my adapter around it still won't work. When i turn the camera on, while the lens is attached, i can squeeze in about 5 sec of recording, till the camera realizes that it's not m43 lens and says the lens is not attached properly. Shouldn't problems like these not be happening if shoot without lens is on?

I know I've heard good reviews about that guy. But I don't want to use $60 and find out that it still wouldn't work. I'm pretty sure it's not the adapters fault because I've compared its mount with the kit lens and they match. I think that I'll give panasonic a call and send for a replacement.

so your saying its most likely my adapters fault?

Yes, that's sounds more probable. Since I put up "Closing Time" in my sig link I've been contacted five times over vimeo PM, email and phone by people who based on viewing my film decided to get FD lenses and couldn't get it to work. Attitudes ranged from mild frustration to anger to directly accusing me of lying about actually using FDs on GH1. All of them had opted for lowest priced adapter they could find at the time on eBay and not the ciecio7 I have. Three of them bought the ciecio7 instead, one the Novoflex and they all got it to work. It was the hole for the connection pin switch that snagged according to the three of them who reported back with details about it. The fifth (the one calling my a lier) didn't phone back so no idea what happened there and I'm not particularly interested to call back.

I had this probably very often when I first got the camera. Since I've done the firmware updates though I haven't seen the message. I believe it stopped after the first firmware update, but I didn't use the camera much between the 1st and 2nd update. Maybe it's something they fixed in firmware.

Or maybe do a factory reset on the settings in the camera. Could be some kind of settings issue.

So this is happening to people even with the "shoot without lens" option selected? What mode are you shooting in? I use a minolta adapter and only get the message when in iA mode, which I assume needs communitcation with the lens to work. All other modes (that I've tried and remember) work and don't give me the message, if I have the "shoot without lens" option on.
