Adam Wilt Strikes Again

There are some serious RED haters posting back.

But dang-it if I don't want an EX-1 SO bad man.

A couple of weeks until NAB and we'll see what Panasonic comes up with...

Resist it, Kholi, I feel the same as you! :)

Ich it all gets so confusing doesnt it! Hope your not still grumping at me Kholi btw!

There just doesnt seem to be a cam ticking all the boxes right now, i juuuust about have enough for a RED but thing is, i need to do corporate work too (and for that i need loads of normal camcorder controls.) Looking at the images - i think Adam himself says its not a 'fair' but subjective test?

I can't imagine there being any bigg surprises from NAB by pannie regarding the hvx200 and hpx500 but would rock if it did!

Kholi:

Did a shoot last week with the EX-1. It's nice. Much sharper and much less noise in the picture than the HVX. But it totaly looks like video, the colors are nice but not as good as the HVX and my gosh, have you been lurking over in the EX forum? A LOT of initial defect issues that I just don't have time to deal with. I make my living with my cameras so they just need to work and work perfectly.

1. Vignetting debacle continues
2. ND/Backfocus issue continues with inconsistent resolution even after being sent to Sony and returned.
3. Chromatic aberration issues with some users
4. New one - bad audio with certain mics - described as a wind noise/distortion
5. Crud/particulate inside lens mechanism
6. Paint and silk screened control labels are rubbing off for some users

No thanks! I can't spend $7,000.00 on a camera that "might" not have any of these issues, then have to return it to Sony and wait weeks for repairs. I think the camera is an awesome machine and it's picture is really quite good as are the LCD and the lens and the SDI out. But I would wait a few months and see if Sony can get it together. If Panasonic doesn't introduce something to compete, I would still consider the Sony, just not right now.
