Alright, so I filmed this BMX edit for ESPN, and, to make a long story short, I totally overexposed a pair of, in my opinion, critical shots* and needed to come up with a way to make that not matter so much. Luckily, the location this was filmed in is pretty cold and muted in color; it's a 30' diameter cement pipe that you have to raft through freezing water to get to, and I felt that I could make the whole video reflect this, while making the video seem a bit dated at the same time, as if it was filmed with a consumer VHS shouldercam.
To do this I muted the colors in the video to 25% saturation, boosted the contrast considerably, did some slight color-correction (warming a couple later-in-the-day clips that were too cold), and added some faux grain and burns.
So, let me know what you think, be it good or bad; this thing isn't going live until after the X-Games, so I've got more time than the norm to make this work. Here's the Vimeo URL and pass: http://www.vimeo.com/13567366 glory
*It made sense at the time to expose for the rider, but, in retrospect, I should have exposed for the background, because the rider would have silhouetted regardless.
