Action Comedy Feature with DVX

yeah... loose the real player if you can... I personally refuse to even install the player on my system. WMV or MOV is the way to go.

I hate Real with a passion! Ditch it! Put quicktime instead. WMV if you want, but depending on how it's encoded, the Mac version of the windows media player may have problems with it.

The content was pretty good, shot pretty well. The real player was extremely irritating though, it kept stopping to reload.

Real Player? When I clicked to open it, it downloaded a file then opened up Adobe GoLive on my Mac. I have Real Player but that didn't open it.

(A few minutes later)
Okay, I opened Real Player first, opened file from within it. Kept stopping and starting. Too much of this was choppy - almost looked like a slide show at points.

Cinematographically (is that a word?) it was impressive. Content-wise, this isn't my type of movie, so I wouldn't be in a position to critique it.

Also, I'm wondering if this should be in the clip section.

Well, I was just about to say the same thing as the other.
Can you put a .wmv or a .mov file for us to download?

That would be much appreciated.

All the best

Fidel.

magicdavek you gotta fix your address dude..

glad to see everyone else hates that real crap too.

Ah! Now I can see it! Good stuff bazooka, although the camera shakes are a bit too over done, but I understand what you wanted to do with it (traffic / bourne supremacy look). Is it the encoding, or did you want to have the colors a bit whashed out?

Man speaking for myself and just starting out, I though this was great. What an inspiration to newbies like myself. When look at the trailer I always ask myself how did you shoot this angel and what are the settings and content dialog, action, film props, location and talent. A lot goes into making a shot film and seeing what you and others have done makes me feel as if I can accomplish the same owning the same camera. It is so easy to criticize someone else's work with and not see the effort that went into it. It is just my option and I'm sure being newbie my opinion means very little but I think not having down anything like what you have done, thanks for sharing your work for others like myself to see.

Thank you. Its true we all have the same tools now and its affordable and its possible. Keep up the hard work and start small. Get comfortable with the camera and dealing with people and you should be fine. The best way to learn is through working.

Looks great. The colors are clean and the interior lighting is nice.

However, the story uses gangster plot elements that have been recycled a little too often and not too realistic. Mafias are so misunderstood as a bunch of violent thugs hustling the streets, but often they just consist of big groups of boring people doing very boring and legal business. The fight sequences looked hard to do, but I thought they could have used some more planning and cinematographic novelty. The outside field fight is shot with too few actors for such a wide shot.

Great job! I know that I'm going to be grilled in the frying pan for my works, and that is what I need. If we don't get constructive criticism from our peers, we will not improve.

The trailer looks good, spikey haired main actor was good, the sidekick seems a bit too generic with his line delivery. As far as the washed out look goes....I think it sells the film short of itself. Any true cinematogrpaher would hate to have something washed looking. It definitely takes away from the feel that the colors and lighting bring to any film. Just my opinion though.

Pretty good but every conversation/confrontation looks like the same framing/handheld/shot style. MUSIC!!! Where is it? Needs a specific style much earlier. Get a better composer - or give your current one more time – what feeling do you want ot convey? Innocence lost? Redemption? It has a doc feel but water on the lens & dust in front of the Boss out in the field look unprofessional. I have done similar styled films - mafia/family business and unfortunately the market is oversaturated - make yours stand out from the rest - I understand one guy wants to keep the family together - but what are some of the other stories? Someone wants to leave the family? Someone wants to take over the business? Road to Perdition is a fresh look on the genre - we never see Capone in the entire film but feel his presence and follow the story of one of the hit men. Besides being Ronin, what other fresh things can you integrate?
